Lesson 1 & 2 - Dance:
This morning in dance we had to put in a lot of work enable for us to create a piece of dance, we spent our time constructively. Demi played the main character of the Snow Queen and Me, Shenell, Aaliyah, Naomi And Shyanne were all iceskaters, fairys and snowflakes for all separate parts of the dance. We had to imagine almost as if the music has painted us into a pretty picture.
The beginning part of our dance was very unexpected, it was very fast and time keeping, we all start in scattered out positions as snow flakes to the furtherest of the right and the Snow Queen was placed in the middle, we had to wait for a sound and this part of the dance included Spinning, Turns, Twirls, Hops, Running, Flashy Jazz Hands and we had to put on exciting over thrilled faces.
For the second part of the dance, this included an ice-skating scene which was very complicated and had a lot of swift movement and repetitive cannons. No jumps or hops were used for this part, we had perform an action where we would tie our shoe laces one by one, as a gradual cannon. We then had to hold eachothers hips and lift our heads high like skaters and skate from side to side 4 then, we would then place our hands down and twirl on the shot, then place hands back onto the hips skate from side to side 4 time more and scatter off into our positions for the next part of the dance, where we would go into our partners in a staggered order and perform our duets, although all of them were the same. We repeated this part especially several times.
We still have the ending bit to made up yet but we got quite a lot of physical work down today with the corporation of the class.
This morning's lesson were really good and we had a lot done, although I should have got more sleep ill remember that for next lesson.
Lesson 3 - Blogging in Music Lesson
Lesson 4 and 5 Drama -
These two lessons were very helpful, because we needed the time to rehearse and go through our lines properly rather than rushing. We managed to go through the script at least 6 times, at first we expressed the script through speech first. Then about the third time around, we decided to rehearse with stage directions. This was quite difficult to pull together as there were a lot of disruptions and laughter happening behind the curtains. We also discussed what kind of costumes and props that we should use for our performance, in the end we came to a decision and we decided to keep it very basic with red baggy tops, black leggings, Christmas hats, plimsolls, head bands and 3 or more extra large brown t shirts for the volunteer kids who are going to go up on the stage and take part in the play. Hopefully all goes well.
Today was a great diploma day!

Music - 25th of November
We had quite a bit of a delay for this week's Music Lesson, unfortunately Wednesday but taken up by flexible learning day. But this lesson we still managed to go through our winter composition and through Winter Wonderland at least once.
For our Winter Composition, at first everyone practised with all the other instruments with Mr.Fox except for the Tenor Players the beginning of the piece. We had to think of two notes that fitted for a quieted drumrolls whilst everyone played their separate ostinatos . Around this bit, the Tenor Players practised along with us. In the end, it sounded great, I had zero difficulties with this task what so ever!
For Winter Wonderland, we worked section by section, first section A & B. We were fully on point for section A, but section B needed a little bit of work. After we fitted everyone's notes together, we then started to work on section C which seemed to be the hardest bit. I found in between section B & C the most difficult, because it involved a various changes of notes, in one bar of section B the notes were very far apart (distanced) and we had to play them very fast. This is difficult for me to remember and I kept messing up quite a lot of the time. I think for next lesson, I should try and keep in time more.
We repeated both tunes several times until we got it perfect, although Demi and Naomi were missing throughout the whole lesson because they had other musical lessons to attend. But overall we got quite a lot done, cant wait till next lesson

* New Dance * - 22th Of November
Today, we were introduced to our new temporary teacher for this term. I cannot remember her name so I will refer her to MISS.
After all getting dressed and sorting out our kit, we all discussed what we can do for a new piece and how we can pull it together at such late notice. Miss explained to us that we had to use contemporary techniques and that it would be a good idea to use the whole ATMOSPHERE of an "Ice-skating Arena" or "Alice and the Wonderland" for a theme. We watched a clip on ice which involved movement connecting with the energy of winter. To be able to create a WINTER dance, you must compare everything you do to it and enthasise it as snow, wind, rain ect. Imagine how WINTER feels like, looks like, sounds like, smells like and even TASTE LIKE! After watching the clip I personally understood more about WINTER WONDERLAND, we saw rapid movement, cannons, duets. The dancers involved props and costumes such as tutu's and leggings. The colours they used, music and the tone of lighting also created an atmosphere.
After discussing Miss showed us an example of a dance she had previously made up, the dance was complicated and involved a lot of tactics & gestures. Facial expressions and potential costumes are childish and hilarious which will crack the kids up and keep them AMUSED !
The introduction to the dance involves us keeping in step and time with the music, One student (Demi) had a solo at the front and then Me and the others had a together-movement which involved keeping in a tight area and then we scattered around after. This was a good example of comparing the movement with the weather, this movement describes snow. I found this part of the dance easy, but then Miss made it more complicated when she added on turns, hops and swirls, I found this difficult, because trying to keep in step is something my mind has to work on. Eventually I will get it !
We continued out this dance to the best of our ability, I felt very energetic today! I also wrote down a few notes aswell just to remind myself how to do it step-by-step. Enable for me to keep with the counts and steps I think I should either ask Miss for some individual help or just focus more and stop getting distracted.
Overall, today was a great lesson ! :)

Media - 18th and 19th Of November
In both media lessons, we were set a task by our media teacher to take the original photograph's previously taken in the local 'Myatts Field Park' and edit them using a semi-professional software 'Picnik'. But, the trick was that we had to create a minimum of 3 pictures each for winter and autumn edits. We had to use mainly blue, white and grey tone of colours for Winter and orange, green, grey, brown-ish colours for Autumn.

Before editing the original photo's into professional-looking edits, I wanted to understand the meaning and aspects of Winter and Autumn first. Enable to do something, you must be able to understand it and know what your looking for!
I related Winter and Autumn to: weather, activity, daylight, mood to the picture.
Icicles, Snow, Rain, Cold, Sickness, Darkness at early times of the day, Lazy moods, Christmas and ect.
I took the images into my head and start to edit the first 3, I then altered the edited images and I made sure that all my first 3 edit's had a story and a message to it.
With my Winter Images, I had gave it a look so that you can picture a Cold and Freezing atmosphere, I brightened out the main attractions of the picture and left all the blackground blurred but softened out the edges, this effect came out really good. I used mainly blue and white colour's for this edit and made the font of the message very bold. I used messages such as, "Seasons Greeting, Eatings Treatings", "Merry Seasons", "Good Holidays", "Happy New Year" and etc.
Autumn Edits:
]

Windy Days, Coughing, Sneezing, Happy Moments, Leaves falling, Beigey sky colour, Cold, Leather jackets , Logs, Soggy Weather. I also took these images into my head and started to edit my second 3 lots of images, I then also altered the edited images and made sure it had a story and message to it.
I used effects such as: Colour Alters, Tint, Symbols, Font Text, Boarders, Frames, Colour Shades, Blur, Softener.
With my Autumn Images, I decided to go different and give it a happy, rather excitable look rather than an depressing one, because although Autumn has lots of rain and horrible foggy days and thrushy wind. It had also have a calm breeze and a calm chill, and I decided to give the Images a happy message for my 3 edits. I used oranges, greens, browns, yellows, beige and some pinks. I brightened out the yellow-y, pink-ish sky and dimmened the colour of the orange, brown leaves on the tree. I gave the ground a sharp, calm grey effect and the background I did made it very clear and basic.

Overall, I believe I done a good job!
Diploma Friday - November the 12th
DANCE:
Today, we had yet again another supply teacher, she was quite supportive and set us a task in which we had to research about different stimulus (activity) based on Winter Dance, Contemporary Dance and how the dance connects with Winter.
We researched the following such as:
- Photographs
- Poems/Quotes
- Pedestrian Movement
- Music
- Props
Photographs: I came across photograph's which just "wow-ed!" me, some of the movements looked very complicated and amusing, it made me want to achieve and try it myself, almost as if they were, "putting me inside the photo".
Poems/Quotes: The poems I found quite boring by my personal opinion, but I found the advantage of the poems were to show how words can connect to winter and how they can use Contemporary dance to lure us into it, creating a story!
An example of a Quote:
A contemporary artist can use the findings of all epochs and all styles, from the most primitive literary expressions up to the most refined products of the baroque. by Juan Goytisolo
Movement: When it comes down to movement, in contemporary dance, there are so many sections of it and so many different techniques of movement and strategies. Its all to do with what way you feel best suited to move your body. Don't just feel like your dancing, feel like your living, breathing, drinking, eating, moving, walking, running ect. There can be swift, rapid, soft, hard, intense movement and many, many more!
Music & Props:
I discovered that enable for a Contemporary Dance Performance to take place, there has to be Classical Music to go with it. Since 1945 had it been unleashed together as one, but become most popular during mid 1970s. With the props, we use props enable to express the whole point of contemporary dance and the meaning more, it is more effective and grabs peoples attention and as I say again - creates a story.
Props can include: Umbrellas, chairs, sticks ect. But NOT HATS, SCALFS, BAGS - those are costume fittings.
After researching, we then had to make up a quick dance individually using a sweet, soft song or a expressive song. The song I chose was expressive, I included props such as :
An Umberella

A Chair:

And through out the whole time I had the picture of :
Icicle's and snow the whole time

Like I said Snow and Nice connect with Winter, Winter connects with Contemporary dance!
Simple, I had no problems today what so ever!
Today was a great lesson

Flexible Learning Day Music- November the 10th
We spent the whole of today preparing our music piece for our 2nd project we are going to be working on next year in January. We figured that if we worked on it early, it would saved a lot of time and with this taster day, it helped me to get an understanding on what we are going to be working on in the "Horror-Movie Project".
Before we started to make our own solo music pieces and fiddle around with the software, we first had to view horror movie tailors such as :
- Scream
- The Ring
- Psycho
- Silence of the Lambs
- Halloween

We did this enable to get an understanding of the type of melody we are looking for, horror is usually classed as: scary, frightening, breath-taking and is put under the category of minor. In the trailers, I found that there was many sudden parts of it which were shocking and unexpected. Some of them were even life threatening e.g in the trailer of the movie "Psycho", someone called up Sophie's house phone and was making very strange conversation, the phone went silenced and we all gasped waiting for reaction, when all of a sudden the glass broke and blood was everywhere. Although, some other movies are very boring and not very frightening at all, these movies happened to be one of the best old school horror's ive watched in a long time.
I analysed the technique of the soundtrack from each and every featured trailer and decided to make my own similar soundtrack with my own kick into it. I took my time to make it using an music software which included different effects such as all different types of instruments and ways to play them, sample sounds, voice recording, tone changing and ect. Everyone else was so quick, I took my time and made sure everything was perfect, I use sample sounds such as: a car shriek, screaming and I used a special sound effect to specify a baby's innocence such as a baby's laugh and cry.
I used some unusual instrument sounds such as: a piano, guitar, harp and some others. I used the effect of how a silence can turn into a sudden attack. I added on an instrument one after the other, so it created a rapid frightening beat. With the part of my soundtrack with was involved with a piano I used the trill, drone, chromatic and cluster chord. We had to make the music a minimum of 2 minutes long, but mine was about 3 in a half/4 minutes long. After finishing and editing last minute things on my soundtrack, I then previewed it to the class, everyone thought it was great and our teacher predicted that I will get a good great on it .

Dance Lesson - November the 8th
Today everyone was in for a bit of a surprise, a substitute teacher was sent to teach us for the time being as Miss.Scrubb has unfortunately broken her ankle. This new teacher seemed quite nice and helped us to build our confidence back after not being in a dance session for so long, I felt full of so much energy and enthusiasm today. She started us off with a maximum of a 10 minute warm up which included: Running, stretching, bumping, jumping. I hate it when it strains in an saw way, but today my muscles strained as if my body wanted to and my body didn't pain all that much after. The dance teacher then showed us another dance she had made up the night before to put together with our current winter piece. What she showed us looked great, but it was very complicated to put together. It was just one of those things which appeared easy but were not easy to do at all. We learnt it all by the end of the lesson, but me as an individual found it simple once we I started to learn and repeat it over and over again. For once I didn't find it hard catching up with everyone else's speed.
Today was a good lesson!

MEDIA: (Period 1)
We then providing the photograph evidence from yesterday used our best top ten to edit them and planned to use them as Christmas Cards for the primary school children whom are due to come and watch our performance on the 17th Of December. We may even use them to create a calender regarding on expenses and money limits. I only managed to finish off about 3 today, but they still came out quite good.
Here are some examples of the work I have produced:
* copy and paste pictures 1, 2 and 3*
I am quite proud of myself through out these last 2 days and what I have achieved, although I find that my difficulty in editing using the software 'picnik' would probably have to be that I cannot find the right colours, blends or editing options for the two specific seasons: winter and autumn. I can't really tell the difference! I was told that winter colours are more based on blue and white, and that Autumn colours are more based on greens and oranges! Next lesson when we are editing, I will try my best to alter these changes.

Winter Photography In The Park - Thursday 4th & 5th Of November
On the 4th of November, Me and the Diploma Crew took a visit to Myatts Field Park, we were set a task in which we had to use 5.0 - 8.0 mega pixel cameras to take professionally-looking photographs using the frame through frame technique, distances and using the nature as a prop. Today I took quite a lot of good photo's, I used nature lighting from sunlight and the shading of a tree for one photo which really came out fascinating, it created a rebounding affect where it looked as if it was telling a message to say, "where there is darkness, there will always be light!". In another photo I used the square pattern in a gate/fence to show how there is a multiply of dimensions happening in one picture and how everything else in the background is blurred out and that the square pattern is the main focus. I also used a female model to show how humankind reacts against nature regarding the distances. I learnt quite a lot today, If you find every picture to be typical, think outside the box, not in it!
I didn't find it so difficult this time using the flash camera's for the first time properly in the outside world, really helped me catch up on my photography skills :D !
On the 5th of November, we then providing the photograph evidence from yesterday used our best top ten to edit them and planned to use them as Christmas Cards for the primary school children whom are due to come and watch our performance on the 17th Of December. Music Lesson - 11th Of November
We spent the first half of the lesson working on 'Winter Wonderland' on the steel pans, we went through sections A & B, but spent most of the time finishing off our final section C. We then spent the other half of our lesson just roughly going through our winter solo's and testing out different chords and how we could improve it and fit it all into place. I believe that I was fully focused today and really to learn. Theres not much to say about today's lesson, but over all it was quite good.

Music Lesson - 3rd Of November
We spent most of this lesson trying to remember our duet idea's from last time, it was a little bit sticky today but we pulled through in the end. We included a silent role on the 'A' and 'F', but this is only for Me and Demi's pan e.g on Shenell's pan, her role is only on the 'A'. We had to decide together as a group where to fit in each duet or for some solo's. After deciding that Me and Demi's duet piece would go first, Shenell's solo second, Aaliyah's solo third and Naomi & Shyanne's duet last. We started playing it slow, then gradually getting faster. By the end of the lesson, it sounded so smooth, it was as if we never had a half term. We spent our last 10 minutes rehearsing a bit of "Winter Wonderland" Every little helps.
Thank you, today was exciting.
