Today, I added the finishing touches to My "Contemporary Dance" Presentation.
I added effects and more information to my slide, we were suppose to present it to the class this lesson but all the computers were taken up after we signed off and we had no USB's.
After all of that, only up to now did I know that we were not meant to write about all the people given on the Introduction to the Research Paper. I thought the more information you wrote the more marks you get. But then I recognised its the information you put down, not tons of information you stack on and on to the presentation. And I already have 16 slides (*including pictures) what make you think that people would want to be sitting down for ages just listen about Contemporary dance for that long.
So, I ended up adding a little bit more information about Isadora Dunkens techniques and I also added two more slides about Jose Limon and his dance techniques.
I learnt that his Dance Technique includes a lot of stretching and I would predict that he uses a lot of Cardio Work Out, jogging and ofviously stretching. He puts a passion into his dance and takes it seriously, he also funded the Jose Limon Performing school and he employed his ex-dance teacher and mentor to be the act of an Artistic Directtor.
I am so updated on my blogs mayne :o]
We went back into the classroom and due to technical difficults with transfering the files on to Miss.Scrubbs USB, we toke down notes from Miss.Scrubbs presentation instead.
Today was an ok day..

Yet AGAIN - Another Music Lesson - 23RD Of September
Music TODAY was not so much a good lesson for me :/
I was so confused and due to the missed lesson yesterday, I had to learn the notes so quickly. Normally I am a fast learner, but today I don't know why but I wasn't. Mr.Fox and Miss. Hassler were teaching us the notes, we were all put into three different sections and we using 3 different steel pan drums, lucky me I was using the common one with the most notes :D
Some of us had our own solo's, my section with Demi and Illenia included our section solo - Tenor Pan. Naomi had her own solo on the - Bass Pans, there was no other people in her sections because she played 3 drums to make one part of the piece and the same occurred for Shyanne who played the Cellos, Damilola who played the Guitar Pan and Shenell who played the Seconds.
Eventually, I got the rhythm.. The written piece was called " What ya talking bout?", it sounds quite funny actually . It was written by a Jamaican man, which at the moment, I am not familiar with the name. But, the written piece sounded like a very happy and cheerful mood type of music.
THE NOTES WERE :
CC - AA - C
* 5 Counts
A-B-CCC-A-C-B
And then we were my section was given another part..
THOSE NOTES WERE:
CC - D - E - C - D - C - G ( WITH AN DRUM ROLL)
The part two we were given with the notes
CC - D - E - C - D - C - G (WITH AN DRUM ROLL)
Was an little section from " When the saints come marching in".
After, those two parts the ending involves..
THESE NOTES..
CC - AA - C
..
I understood in the end, but still need a bit more PRACTISE..
Looking forward to TOMOROWS Diploma Friday Lessons..

Dance Lesson - 20th of September
Today, in dance we had a lot more people, because at first only Me, Shenell and Demi out of the WHOLE YEAR GROUP signed up for Creative&Media Diploma, I CANT BELIEVE THAT!!!
But, there was about 7 people in the lesson now, I hope it doesn't expand TOO much. I like it small, I can regain more attention that way if I am in need of help or confused about the work.
Moving on - This lesson we used to Library to continue off our presentations, I didn't finish off a lot because I used this lesson to more likely use understanding then "jotting down" or typing up information. I finished off a few more thing on Martha Graham's movement "THE CONTRACTION" and "THE RELEASE".
ONE COOOL FACT - I learnt that "THE CONTRACTION" is the hard part where most balance, power and strain is taken place in the whole body and involves a lot of arm movement. And that "THE RELEASE" is all to do with the breathing and the connection from the dance to the EARTH (Floor), this movement occured mainly from the pelvis frame up to the back and to the neck, then the head and that the head must always be in lined with the spine. My motto for this is, "A FOCUSED DANCER IS ALWAYS A SUCCESSFUL DANCER!".
Look at an example of "THE CONTRACTION" in this picture..
E.g
This is a very WOW kind of movement! Can you see how her leg is holding up the rest of her body weight?
And how her leg and arm are in line with eachother and how her FACIAL EXPRESSION is so SERIOUS :O This is a perfect and common example of "THE CONTRACTION".
Another example of Marthas Grahams kind of dance is "THE RELEASE"

Can you see how most action is taken place for her pelvis and upper body and how straight everything is?!
It take a PROFESSIONAL DANCER to be able to do these kind of movements. Amazing ay?
Hopefully, next lesson I would have finished off the presentation, I still have TONS to do. One of the biggest sections Ive been focusing on is Martha Grahams when I still have about 4 or 5 people to do, not to worry though. Their part of Contemporary dance was not as a wide variety and complicated as her's.Theirs are very basic.
Overall,
Miss.Scrubb gave me a good comment today for my hard work.
Goooddd byeeee x Im OFF.

A NEW BEGINNING - Friday The 17th xD
Woohoo - Todays diploma friday and oh isn't it a great day to come to School on?! xD
Its so exciting, Miss.Williams makes the lesson so interesting and enthusiastic, but shes is also strict, which is a good thing, because then at least people know not to mess around and to just get on with the work given.
I like my new teacher Miss.Grieg, (Photography Teacher) she seems quite friendly - Infact I learnt quite a Photography today. Me and shenell learnt about the meaning of photography and what Its all about. As I have done for all my other Diploma subjects, we were given a task to type up a presentation about Photography and all the category's in it e.g

Me and shenell learnt about the meaning of photography and what Its all about. As I have done for all my other Diploma subjects, we were given a task to type up a presentation about Photography and all the category's in it e.g
"Who discovered Photography and how was it discovered?", "When was the first camera phone created?",
"When was Photo shop created?", and we basically had to gather up tons of information about Photography and included images.
I decided to use Microsoft Power Point, its more creative and looks more organised and if I have to use this presentation in future, at least then I have already converted it into viewing slides.
I learnt loads of things about Photography, did you know that this is what the first camera looks like?!
It has one lense to the side and a pin hole to the other.Obviously, over time the effects of the camera has improved and become more complex.

For an still-image to be taken, the light from the sun must reflect onto the camera at the precise movement.
HEYY - ANOTHER COOL FACT :D
Did you know that no-one actually knows who actually created the first digital camera phone, some believe that the man who is responsible for it is a French inventor names Philippe Khan, his method was to get different parts from an camera and an mobile and put them together to try and create not so much still-image but an video-recording phone. Even though, he did manage to accomplish both. Others believe it was a popular company called Olympus.
Im not going to go into so much details because, its so INTERSTING, im saving it all for my presentation ;)
I will include some more info later some time next week. ;)
After, doing most of my presentation, some people set up their blog. I have no need to, because I have already set mine up. But, it was still FUN STUFF, always have to think POSITIVE, even when the work is boring. A POSITIVE MIND gives a POSITIVE GRADE.
Imagine that's just lesson one !!! You'll never guess what happened in LESSON 2 ALL THE WAY TO LESSON 5 ?
READ ON TO FIND OUT MORE ..
We had Miss.Williams all through out lesson 2-4. At first it was a little bit BORING, then as I started to listen it got more interesting. We was all discussing about how we are going to get marked for Creative&Media DIPLOMA performances. She explained that the beauty of the Diploma rather than A GCSE is that you get a majority of 5 subjects all involving PERFORMING ARTS, the marking is broken down into many sections. We are marked on our blogs and our tracking performances and how well they go. So there is actually no big test.. Phew ! So glad about that.. this Winter we are performing something called the "Winter Road Show". We had a choice of a variety of different pantomimes e.g "Cinderella", "Snow White" , "Jack And The Beanstalk", but we went for something different and chose "Ali Baba". By the way a Pantomime is a sort of rhyming, comedy play set for kids and family's. Most family's come and watch Pantomimes mainly at Christmas, its not so common now our days due to the fact that everyone can now get everything on television and TV but some still watch pantomimes.
We all had to come to an agreement of who was going to have certain characters, I chose Ali Baba, because in most plays most of the time I am the main character. Because, I am very confident and can memorise words very quickly. On top of that I have trained acting schools, I attended two performing schools. One called Atalia Conti for a year, when I was 11. And one when I was 9 called Alton Towers for 10 Weeks every Saturday. They really helped me to boost up my acting and singing skills.
Even though I am talented at this, I still like to see others doing the Diploma who have less confidence given the chance to have big parts as well. Everyone is equal !
We then were given scripts and glue to stick in the pages and then we were set to practise rehearsing, that went quite well. Still do not know any of my lines but I definitely know how the story goes. The story is based on a poor family in Bangladesh, Ali Baba has a brother and a sister, and his mother is struggling to keep up with the rent. Ali Baba sets his self off to a journey to find something in search of money, he comes upon this cave where these Con Artists and Thief's have hide their riches, he then gets stuck in the cave and comes across a Genie who explains to him about the gold and who's it was, warning him not to take it because they will come back. Ali Baba was not bothered about this and wished that he would be let out of the Cave. He found his way back to the village and placed the gold upon his brother Karim's stall without his noticing (By this we can tell that he is not a very flashy, attention-grabbing person).
In the morning Karim is shocked, but does not question it. The mother questions Ali Baba, but Ali Baba goes on as if he does not know anything about it, Karim later on sells the gold to the Chief Thief in distice.. and then something else happens . But im not going to tell you ;) The performance will tell it all...
Here's a couple of pictures of the Pantomime..
.jpg)

Last lesson, we had Miss.Hasler ( My Music Teacher). This lesson helped me to catch up with my work A LOT, my "Steel Pan Drum" presentation was nearly finished, that lesson I added a few more finishing touches and pictures. It looked organised and FULL-OF-FACTS. We then were suppose to update our blogs, but I never had time. Oh Well! At least I finished off my presentation or else It would have taken me ages.. I still have my drama, dance AND photography one to finish off.
Anyways, enough typing my hands are starting to hurt :S
im off now night night x

Introduction to Photography - September the 16th
Today I met my new teacher Miss.Greig for the first time! She's very good at teaching us.
Seeing as Me And Shenell were the only two in the class today. We got a lot done, at first the teacher explained to us about the Photography research and gave us a sheet, we read it and then knew what we had to do.
She explained to us, we would have to start on our presentation next lesson, but for now awnser the questions on ANOTHER sheet of paper about the PHOTOGRAPH.
The photograph looked as if it was taken of a middle-aged women with 3 kids who looks like she was in poverty, the picture was taken in the early 1930's which was the time during the great depression in WW1.I described it as a depressing, stressed photo and the women looks almost as if she was lost. And I also included that the texture of the picture makes it look very gritty and dirty, as if she and her family had no hope. And it was a very dark place to be where it was set. And the way they have made her stare looking and focusing on something to the left and not so much directly into your eyes shows that she is not distracted and also has more proof that she looks lost. The tension of the picture makes you want to look and discover it more, it was an interesting photograph.
Here is the ACTUAL PICTURE, except photo shopped ..

I really did enjoy todays lesson , c'yall soon :) x
EXTENDED Music Lesson - SepTrinidad and Tobagotember The 14th
This lesson REALLY gave me some time to catch up on my work, my presentation was nearly finished. But, I just needed to make the final touches. Add some more pictures and adjustments, spelling checks and just make the presentation look a bit more flashy and punctuated basically.
I finally understand what a Steel Pan Drum is and where it comes from, i enjoyed learning about this.
I never actually thought it would have came from Trinidad and Tobago, I am so looking forward to learning how to play this instrumental next week.
I read up on the Steel Pan group TASPO and they seemed like such an enthusiastic, great group. Another interesting fact is that when the French-Africans came over from Africa to the Caribbean during the slave trade, they had to create a new kind of drum to commence communication, they used to use 'Bam-Boos', but they had none of those over at the Caribbean, so they then created the Steel Pan and it became so popular.
After that, we were meant to update our blog but I had no time, so now I'm doing it now that I've got home.
Ihad a good lesson, overall.
Anyways im off to bed, GOOODD NIGHTT BLOGGERS : ) Xxx

Introduction to the Diploma all Together && BBC BLAST- 10th of September.
Friday was a long diploma day, me and the rest of the class were all introduced to the Diploma all together. Today was a better day, quite interesting actually.. First and Second lesson I had DANCE, we were continuing on the topic from last lesson. But since we've already been introduced to it from the previous lesson, so this lesson we started on our Presentations, I ended up choosing Microsoft Power Point for this project.
And just a REMINDER, incase you forgot from the last post but I was researching about Contemporary Dance in this presentation we had to include varies of pictures and information e.g

And just a REMINDER, incase you forgot from the last post but I was researching about Contemporary Dance in this presentation we had to include varies of pictures and information e.g
"What was Contemporary dance?", "Who created it?" ect. - I discovered it was created by many people for there is all different parts of Contemporary dance and how many techniques and complexes are used in this dance.
ANOTHER INTERESTING FACT ! :D..
Martha Graham did not actually create Contemporary dance but she used the same technique to turn it into a harsh and tensed dance, she uses many movements such as the contraction which is a HARSH movement.
Many of these websites were useful to get hold of the accurate information that I was LOOKIN FOR:
and I CANNOT remember the rest of them right now, but I used WIKIPEDIA to help me find LOTS of information.

Overall this LESSON, I learnt tons about CONTEMPORARY DANCE and I also had fun.
Introduction to Music - 8th Of September 2010.
MUSIC today was very confusing :S... I never understood what to do at first, I was getting quite confused and felt tensed throughout the first 20 minutes of the lesson, but then Ms.Hasler kindly explained to me what sort of music we are going to produce for the Winter Road Show and what expectations she is expecting from me this term. She also helpfully explained how this term we are going to be working on STEEL PAN DRUMS, but before playing the notes on the Steel Pan, I will have to RESEARCH about it first.
It took me quite some time to understand it, but in the end I got on with the work and started to create my Presentation about Steel Pans and where they came from. I included useful pictures and included questions such as "Where was the Steel Pan originated from?", "When was the first Steel Pan created?" and "How it came to Britain today?" - KEYPOINT - I Learnt a lot today e.g Did you know that a Steel Pan was originated from Trindad and Tobago ?! BET YAH DIDN'T KNOW THAT : ]
These websites were very useful to help me figure out exactly what I was looking for:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steelpan
http://www.toucans.net/pan_history.html
http://cnx.org/content/m12397/latest/
and some others I used from the shared documents area..
Anyways, overall I thought this lesson was ok. I did NOT finish the presentation today. I plan to finish it off some time next week !
C'YA LATER GUYSSSS ; )

Introduction to Dance! - 6th of September.
My first day of school was GREAT! I Really enjoyed my first dance lesson, Miss.Shrubb is a GREAT teacher, and I am extremely excited about working with her and my classmates this year. So far we are working on our first unit, some people may find it difficult but if theres any thing ive learnt throught year 7.8 and 9 is that.. If you put your head down into your WORK and get on with it. You can learn to enjoy it, even at the "boring bits" and at the end, all the numbers will add up to a summary and a EXCCELLLEENNNT grade will be gained ! : )
In our first unit, we are starting with "Contemporary Dance" which involves a lot of Technique and Complex movements, it can be a very harsh catogory of dance to a very soft relaxed dance. Its classed as a Down-To-Earth dance, its very interested and I would love to learn more about this type of DANCE.
Firstly, we read a planning sheet of what we will be doing to organise our performance and a sheet of what to research. We were given the option to use Microsoft Word Processor Or Microsoft Office Powerpoint. Im not so sure yet, but on Friday I will decide what I want it to be presented on.
Although, not a lot of practical work was done this lesson, the AIM of the lesson was still achieved.
