Flexible Learning Day Music- November the 10th

We spent the whole of today preparing our music piece for our 2nd project we are going to be working on next year in January. We figured that if we worked on it early, it would saved a lot of time and with this taster day, it helped me to get an understanding on what we are going to be working on in the "Horror-Movie Project".
Before we started to make our own solo music pieces and fiddle around with the software, we first had  to view horror movie tailors such as :

- Scream
- The Ring
- Psycho
- Silence of the Lambs
- Halloween

We did this enable to get an understanding of the type of melody we are looking for, horror is usually classed as: scary, frightening, breath-taking and is put under the category of minor. In the trailers, I found that there was many sudden parts of it which were shocking and unexpected. Some of them were even life threatening e.g in the trailer of the movie "Psycho", someone called up Sophie's house phone and was making very strange conversation, the phone went silenced and we all gasped waiting for reaction, when all of a sudden the glass broke and blood was everywhere. Although, some other movies are very boring and not very frightening  at all, these movies happened to be one of the best old school horror's ive watched in a long time.

I analysed the technique of the soundtrack from each and every featured trailer and decided to make my own similar soundtrack with my own kick into it. I took my time to make it using an music software which included different effects such as all different types of instruments and ways to play them, sample sounds, voice recording, tone changing and ect. Everyone else was so quick, I took my time and made sure everything was perfect, I use sample sounds such as: a car shriek, screaming and I used a special sound effect to specify a baby's innocence such as a baby's laugh and cry.

I used some unusual instrument sounds such as: a piano, guitar, harp and some others. I used the effect of how a silence can turn into a sudden attack. I added on an instrument one after the other, so it created a rapid  frightening beat. With the part of my soundtrack with was involved with a piano I used the trill, drone, chromatic and cluster chord. We had to make the music a minimum of 2 minutes long, but mine was about 3 in a half/4 minutes long. After finishing and editing last minute things on my soundtrack, I then previewed it to the class, everyone thought it was great and our teacher predicted that I will get a good great on it .

Today was good day.
