THE BIG PERFORMACE - 14th of December

The day we have all been waiting for, our whole 4 month of preparation was all depending on today...

Our performance was set into 4 different parts:

1st) Dance
2nd) Media - Presentation
3rd) Music
4th) Drama

DANCE:

Our dance performance I thought went quite well, better than we actually thought, we all kept our smiley faces and the best thing is that there was no fuss and everyone was reading for their Que. No-one was hurt or dropped, there were one or two slips that other people made but because everyone else was on point, It wasn't noticed. And the best thing no matter what we still continued and everyone put on the hard work and effort after all! Our dance performance was a true success.

MEDIA PRESENTATION:

For this part of the performance, as I mentioned in one of my previous blogs, I volunteered to speak out loud amongst our edits and how we made them, why we made them like that and how every single edit relates to winter wonderland and autumn weather! I spoke in detail enough for their ability and understanding, but at the same time I included advanced words, the advantage of this was that they learnt something new.

I presented it using the assistance of one of the heads of the Media Department, he used the computer to click through each photograph. I also used a white projecting board enable for them to see the presentation large on screen. The time gap for the children to view the photograph was enough for them to think of their opinion upon it. The presentation lasted about 2 minutes in total. I used my loud and clear speaking skills very well, I only stuttered once. The presentation went well!

MUSIC:

This part of the performance actually went quite well, I feel that our winter wonderland piece sounded lovely and humble. I assumed that we would have messed up, even a tiny bit but in fact it came out nearly perfect. And our own Winter Composition was the best part, I think because we made it up our selfs we are more confident on that song. The primary school audience and teachers was so amused by our Music performance that they asked for an encore, so we agreed to do re-perform it again at the end of our Pantomime performance.

DRAMA:

The last part of the perform ace was a great fit, as they say save the best for last and make it very dramatic ;) We had to get dressed fast after the Music performance, but all the people in the first  scene were all on time for our Que(s).
The performance was going smooth with the help of a student from year 11, not sure of her name but she whispered some lines in the wings to other students and the audience barely noticed. The costumes looked great and I put in a lot of effort especially for the first scene and the gnome scenes, but in scene 2 when I played the part of Humphrey (Queen's Servant) and I had to act out how I felt about the queen requesting me to commit murder to snow white. There was a long pause as I did not know what my lines was, fortunately Shyanne (Narrator) hinted out the beginning of the line and as the lines came back to memory, I continued my scene in the pantomime as if it never happened. So I had to improvise for the time being in which I forgot my lines.

The ending of the pantomime was excellent, we all looked so enthusiastic. We included a funny part of it as well where we would act silly and pretend to break dance as the curtains were closing as they do in typical Pantomimes!

OVERALL:

The performance was a success and all the practise and rehearsing paid off. Thanks to our teachers and especially Miss.Williams for pulling all this together!

Extra Dance Lesson - 13th Of December

Today we were taken out of Science so that we could have a bonus dance lesson, I personally fele as if we're not ready and the performance is TOMOROW! I fele confident, but the only part which isn't going right is the ending part of the dance which we only previously added last lesson or the lesson before that. Our timings are really bad - Again.  Everyone seemed lazy today. as if they had not had enough sleep. Honestly neither did I, but I tried my best to put in as much energy as posssible. Tonight I am making sure I get loads of sleep and eat breakfast in the morning, so that my body is ready for an enthusiastic dance :D

I am trying my best to think positively!

Diploma Friday - 11th Of December

Lesson 1 & 2 Dance:

Today was a massive mess up, our teacher was not here and we were having difficulties trying to find the music CD so in the end we only had about 25 minutes rehearsal time in total of 2 hours, what a waste of time. We went through the dance which we had put together so far and we decided to roughly add on an ending to our days. After the fairy and duet part, we decided to use the dance Miss Scrubb taught us previously before her innocent with her ankle for the ending. which involved us doing the same movement at the same time and then we run off into a line where each at the same time we would strike mighty actions from one side and switch to the other, we switch 4 times and perform the actions, "running, leaning, showing off muscles and mercy", seeing as there was 5 of us we all had to do this in a separate order. We then held the last action for at least 4 seconds and one by one go beside each other in a straight line, hold hands, bow and turn a 90 degree anti-clockwise angle and walk off.

Even though we missed out quite a lot of time from these two lessons, we still managed to come up with an ending although 1 or 2 changes could be made but we have a bit of time to rehearse just before the performance and we were given the soundtrack on copyrighted CD to that we could practise at home. We were also told that if we want our substitute teacher is doing after school practise next Thursday. In which I will be attending!

Lesson 3 - Today in music, we typed up some of our blogging and some

Lesson 4 & 5 - Drama

The last two lessons, Miss.Williams decided to take us over to Brooke (upper site) so that we could rehearse in the hall on stage so that we can get ready for what we are expecting for the performance next week on Tuesday 14th Of December. We were given tips on how to improve our confidence, for some stage-fright, speaking out loud, facial expressions. space and timing. Whilst getting changed for different parts of the performance, we must be very quick or else we will miss our queue. Today was a great refresher for me, considering I have not performed on a stage probably since primary school., we rehearsed through the script many times, some pupils had things to work on so as we went through scene-by-scene, Miss.Williams helped us on our difficulties and told us what we had to improve on and what changes need to be made. My goal for today was to improve my stability of speaking loud enough, because when I'm in the classroom rehearsing it feels so different to being on stage, so I started off loud then quietened as I got into character. Also I still get mixed up with when I stay my lines, I tend to get them mixed up. By the end of the lesson, I managed to overcome this and I believe that I am ready for the performace. Costumes were sorted, props and the safety check list was finished which I had made myself.

I had also volunteered to speak upon the presentation of picture, I have to speak in terms to their ability and understanding but also teach them new things about eiditing. I had nothing prepared, but I was told that the words just have to come to my head, this is very simple if you have an intellegent mind to think on the spot. But, on the day the media department are going to go through it with me before the performance anyways so Im in luck.

Today was great!

Dance - 6th Of December

In today lesson, the teacher gave us a choice. We could either start creating the ending part of the dance or we could spent our hour perfecting the current parts of the dance, we decided that before we move on we should get each section right and feel 100 percent confident with it first. The ice skating section was really messy so we spent a good 25 on that part and a good 20 on the fairy part aswell. We struggled a lot for the ice-skating part of the dance, we were all out of time and it was hard keeping pace with everyone else's and the music, it was very difficult but in the end we pulled through, the same with the fairy section of the dance, i found turning from side to side, step by step very hard and by the end of the lesson I just about got it but I still need practise on it .

Today's lesson was normal, nothing special.

Flexible Learning Day Music- 1st Of December

Throughout the whole of the day we were focusing on Non-Stop dance and 2 lessons of Media, but we missed out the last lesson, because we finished at 2'oclock. We added on and learnt a new additional 3rd part to the dance where we had to perform in the role of fairy's which included no cannons, but quite a few jumps and it include a lot a rapid stepping and turning on the spot with one foot over the other. We also included fairy loops. This part of the dance was very complicated to explain, we then got into our positions for the next part of the dance where we have to perform the next part of the dance which we have not created yet, but we are getting there.

We repeated this at least 8 times and eventually got it correct, today we spent our day well and we really got things together. Next lesson I hope things will be as good and organised as today was! I really broke a sweat today !

For the third and fourh lesson, we were given a chance in Media to finish off the last finishing touches on our Professional Edit's for our post cards which will be given to the primary school children on the day of the performace. We also had time leftover to type up some more of our blogging, but individually because I finished my editing early, our teacher suggested that I made a Safety Check List as only one person can make it. Everyone else created a feed back sheet!
My edit's were uploaded on to the shared area but for some reason could not be found so only one of my edit's will be shown in the slideshow but at least they are in my creative and media diploma.
This flexible learning day was very useful, I really needed the time to catch up on work.

Diploma Friday - 26th Of November

Lesson 1 & 2 - Dance:

This morning in dance we had to put in a lot of work enable for us to create a piece of dance, we spent our time constructively. Demi played the main character of the Snow Queen and Me, Shenell, Aaliyah, Naomi And Shyanne were all iceskaters, fairys and snowflakes for all separate parts of the dance. We had to imagine almost as if the music has painted us into a pretty picture.

The beginning part of our dance was very unexpected, it was very fast and time keeping, we all start in scattered out positions as snow flakes to the furtherest of the right and the Snow Queen was placed in the middle, we had to wait for a sound and this part of the dance included Spinning, Turns, Twirls, Hops, Running, Flashy Jazz Hands and we had to put on exciting over thrilled faces.

For the second part of the dance, this included an ice-skating scene which was very complicated and had a lot of swift movement and repetitive cannons. No jumps or hops were used for this part, we had perform an action where we would tie our shoe laces one by one, as a gradual cannon. We then had to hold eachothers hips and lift our heads high like skaters and skate from side to side 4 then, we would then place our hands down and twirl on the shot, then place hands back onto the hips skate from side to side 4 time more and scatter off into our positions for the next part of the dance, where we would go into our partners in a staggered order and perform our duets, although all of them were the same. We repeated this part especially several times.

We still have the ending bit to made up yet but we got quite a lot of physical work down today with the corporation of the class.

This morning's lesson were really good and we had a lot done, although I should have got more sleep ill remember that for next lesson.

Lesson 3 - Blogging in Music Lesson

Lesson 4 and 5 Drama -

These two lessons were very helpful, because we needed the time to rehearse and go through our lines properly rather than rushing. We managed to go through the script at least 6 times, at first we expressed the script through speech first. Then about the third time around, we decided to rehearse with stage directions. This was quite difficult to pull together as there were a lot of disruptions and laughter happening behind the curtains. We also discussed what kind of costumes and props that we should use for our performance, in the end we came to a decision and we decided to keep it very basic with red baggy tops, black leggings, Christmas hats, plimsolls, head bands and 3 or more extra large brown t shirts for the volunteer kids who are going to go up on the stage and take part in the play. Hopefully all goes well.

Today was a great diploma day!

Music - 25th of November

We had quite a bit of a delay for this week's Music Lesson, unfortunately Wednesday but taken up by flexible learning day. But this lesson we still managed to go through our winter composition and through Winter Wonderland at least once.

For our Winter Composition, at first everyone practised with all the other instruments with Mr.Fox except for the Tenor Players the beginning of the piece. We had to think of two notes that fitted for a quieted drumrolls whilst everyone played their separate ostinatos . Around this bit, the Tenor Players practised along with us. In the end, it sounded great, I had zero difficulties with this task what so ever!

For Winter Wonderland, we worked section by section, first section A & B. We were fully on point for section A, but section B needed a little bit of work. After we fitted everyone's notes together, we then started to work on section C which seemed to be the hardest bit. I found in between section B & C the most difficult, because it involved a various changes of notes, in one bar of section B the notes were very far apart (distanced) and we had to play them very fast. This is difficult for me to remember and I kept messing up quite a lot of the time. I think for next lesson, I should try and keep in time more.

We repeated both tunes several times until we got it perfect, although Demi and Naomi were missing throughout the whole lesson because they had other musical lessons to attend. But overall we got quite a lot done, cant wait till next lesson

* New Dance * - 22th Of November

Today, we were introduced to our new temporary teacher for this term. I cannot remember her name so I will refer her to MISS.

After all getting dressed and sorting out our kit, we all discussed what we can do for a new piece and how we can pull it together at such late notice. Miss explained to us that we had to use contemporary techniques and that it would be a good idea to use the whole ATMOSPHERE of an "Ice-skating Arena" or "Alice and the Wonderland" for a theme. We watched a clip on ice which involved movement connecting with the energy of winter. To be able to create a WINTER dance, you must compare everything you do to it and enthasise it as snow, wind, rain ect. Imagine how WINTER feels like, looks like, sounds like, smells like and even TASTE LIKE! After watching the clip I personally understood more about WINTER WONDERLAND, we saw rapid movement, cannons, duets. The dancers involved props and costumes such as tutu's and leggings. The colours they used, music and the tone of lighting also created an atmosphere.

After discussing Miss showed us an example of a dance she had previously made up, the dance was complicated and involved a lot of tactics & gestures. Facial expressions and potential costumes are childish and hilarious which will crack the kids up and keep them AMUSED !

The introduction to the dance involves us keeping in step and time with the music, One student (Demi) had a solo at the front and then Me and the others had a together-movement which involved keeping in a tight area and then we scattered around after. This was a good example of comparing the movement with the weather, this movement describes snow. I found this part of the dance easy, but then Miss made it more complicated when she added on turns, hops and swirls, I found this difficult, because trying to keep in step is something my mind has to work on. Eventually I will get it !

We continued out this dance to the best of our ability, I felt very energetic today! I also wrote down a few notes aswell just to remind myself how to do it step-by-step. Enable for me to keep with the counts and steps I think I should either ask Miss for some individual help or just focus more and stop getting distracted.

Overall, today was a great lesson ! :)

Media - 18th and 19th Of November

In both media lessons, we were set a task by our media teacher to take the original photograph's previously taken in the local 'Myatts Field Park' and edit them using a semi-professional software 'Picnik'But, the trick was that we had to create a minimum of 3 pictures each for winter and autumn edits. We had to use mainly blue, white and grey tone of colours for Winter and orange, green, grey, brown-ish colours for Autumn.

Before editing the original photo's into professional-looking edits, I wanted to understand the meaning and aspects of Winter and Autumn first. Enable to do something, you must be able to understand it and know what your looking for!

I related Winter and Autumn  to: weather, activity, daylight, mood to the picture.

 Winter Edits:

Icicles, Snow, Rain, Cold, Sickness, Darkness at early times of the day, Lazy moods, Christmas and ect.

I took the images into my head and start to edit the first 3, I then altered the edited images and I made sure that all my first 3 edit's had a story and a message to it.

With my Winter Images, I had gave it a look so that you can picture a Cold and Freezing atmosphere, I brightened out the main attractions of the picture and left all the blackground blurred but softened out the edges, this effect came out really good. I used mainly blue and white colour's for this edit and made the font of the message very bold. I used messages such as, "Seasons Greeting, Eatings Treatings", "Merry Seasons", "Good Holidays", "Happy New Year" and etc.

Autumn Edits:

]

Windy Days, Coughing, Sneezing, Happy Moments, Leaves falling, Beigey  sky colour, Cold, Leather jackets , Logs, Soggy Weather. I also took these images into my head and started to edit my second 3 lots of images, I then also altered the edited images and made sure it had a story and message to it.

I used effects such as: Colour Alters, Tint, Symbols, Font Text, Boarders, Frames, Colour Shades, Blur, Softener.

With my Autumn Images, I decided to go different and give it a happy, rather excitable look rather than an depressing one, because although Autumn has lots of rain and horrible foggy days and thrushy wind. It had also have a calm breeze and a calm chill, and I decided to give the Images a happy message for my 3 edits. I used oranges, greens, browns, yellows, beige and some pinks. I brightened out the yellow-y, pink-ish sky and  dimmened the colour of the orange, brown leaves on the tree. I gave the ground a sharp, calm grey effect and the background I did made it very clear and basic.

Overall, I believe I done a good job!

Diploma Friday - November the 12th

DANCE:

Today, we had yet again another supply teacher, she was quite supportive and set us a task in which we had to research about different stimulus (activity) based on Winter Dance, Contemporary Dance and how the dance connects with Winter.

We researched the following such as:

- Photographs
- Poems/Quotes
- Pedestrian Movement
- Music
- Props

Photographs: I came across photograph's which just "wow-ed!" me, some of the movements looked very complicated and amusing, it made me want to achieve and try it myself, almost as if they were, "putting me inside the photo".

Poems/Quotes: The poems I found quite boring by my personal opinion, but I found the advantage of the poems were to show how words can connect to winter and how they can use Contemporary dance to lure us into it, creating a story!

An example of a Quote:

A contemporary artist can use the findings of all epochs and all styles, from the most primitive literary expressions up to the most refined products of the baroque.  by Juan Goytisolo

Movement: When it comes down to movement, in contemporary dance, there are so many sections of it and so many different techniques of movement and strategies. Its all to do with what way you feel best suited to move your body. Don't just feel like your dancing, feel like your living, breathing, drinking, eating, moving, walking, running ect. There can be swift, rapid, soft, hard, intense movement and many, many more!

Music & Props:

I discovered that enable for a Contemporary Dance Performance to take place, there has to be Classical Music to go with it. Since 1945 had it been unleashed together as one, but become most popular during mid 1970s. With the props, we use props enable to express the whole point of contemporary dance and the meaning more, it is more effective and grabs peoples attention and as I say again - creates a story.

Props can include: Umbrellas, chairs, sticks ect. But NOT HATS, SCALFS, BAGS - those are costume fittings.

After researching, we then had to make up a quick dance individually using a sweet, soft song or a expressive song. The song I chose was expressive, I included props such as :

An Umberella

A Chair:

And through out the whole time I had the picture of :

Icicle's and snow the whole time

Like I said Snow and Nice connect with Winter, Winter connects with Contemporary dance!
Simple, I had no problems today what so ever!

Today was a great lesson

Flexible Learning Day Music- November the 10th

We spent the whole of today preparing our music piece for our 2nd project we are going to be working on next year in January. We figured that if we worked on it early, it would saved a lot of time and with this taster day, it helped me to get an understanding on what we are going to be working on in the "Horror-Movie Project".
Before we started to make our own solo music pieces and fiddle around with the software, we first had  to view horror movie tailors such as :

- Scream
- The Ring
- Psycho
- Silence of the Lambs
- Halloween

We did this enable to get an understanding of the type of melody we are looking for, horror is usually classed as: scary, frightening, breath-taking and is put under the category of minor. In the trailers, I found that there was many sudden parts of it which were shocking and unexpected. Some of them were even life threatening e.g in the trailer of the movie "Psycho", someone called up Sophie's house phone and was making very strange conversation, the phone went silenced and we all gasped waiting for reaction, when all of a sudden the glass broke and blood was everywhere. Although, some other movies are very boring and not very frightening  at all, these movies happened to be one of the best old school horror's ive watched in a long time.

I analysed the technique of the soundtrack from each and every featured trailer and decided to make my own similar soundtrack with my own kick into it. I took my time to make it using an music software which included different effects such as all different types of instruments and ways to play them, sample sounds, voice recording, tone changing and ect. Everyone else was so quick, I took my time and made sure everything was perfect, I use sample sounds such as: a car shriek, screaming and I used a special sound effect to specify a baby's innocence such as a baby's laugh and cry.

I used some unusual instrument sounds such as: a piano, guitar, harp and some others. I used the effect of how a silence can turn into a sudden attack. I added on an instrument one after the other, so it created a rapid  frightening beat. With the part of my soundtrack with was involved with a piano I used the trill, drone, chromatic and cluster chord. We had to make the music a minimum of 2 minutes long, but mine was about 3 in a half/4 minutes long. After finishing and editing last minute things on my soundtrack, I then previewed it to the class, everyone thought it was great and our teacher predicted that I will get a good great on it .

Today was good day.

Dance Lesson - November the 8th

Today everyone was in for a bit of a surprise, a substitute teacher was sent to teach us for the time being as Miss.Scrubb has unfortunately broken her ankle. This new teacher seemed quite nice and helped us to build our confidence back after not being in a dance session for so long, I felt full of so much energy and enthusiasm today. She started us off with a maximum of a 10 minute warm up which included: Running, stretching, bumping, jumping. I hate it when it strains in an saw way, but today my muscles strained as if my body wanted to and my body didn't pain all that much after. The dance teacher then showed us another dance she had made up the night before to put together with our current winter piece. What she showed us looked great, but it was very complicated to put together. It was just one of those things which appeared easy but were not easy to do at all. We learnt it all by the end of the lesson, but me as an individual found it simple once we I started to learn and repeat it over and over again. For once I didn't find it hard catching up with everyone else's speed.

Today was a good lesson!

Diploma Friday - 5th November

MEDIA: (Period 1)

We then providing the photograph evidence from yesterday used our best top ten to edit them and planned to use them as Christmas Cards for the primary school children whom are due to come  and watch our performance on the 17th Of December. We may even use them to create a calender regarding on expenses and money limits. I only managed to finish off about 3 today, but they still came out quite good.

Here are some examples of the work I have produced:

* copy and paste pictures 1, 2 and 3*

I am quite proud of myself through out these last 2 days and what I have achieved, although I find that my difficulty in editing using the software 'picnik' would probably have to be that I cannot find the right colours, blends or editing options for the two specific seasons: winter and autumn. I can't really tell the difference! I was told that winter colours are more based on blue and white, and that Autumn colours are more based on greens and oranges! Next lesson when we are editing, I will try my best to alter these changes.

Winter Photography In The Park - Thursday 4th & 5th Of November

On the 4th of November, Me and the Diploma Crew took a visit to Myatts Field Park, we were set a task in which we had to use  5.0 - 8.0 mega pixel cameras to take professionally-looking photographs using the frame through frame technique, distances and using the nature as a prop. Today I took quite a lot of good photo's, I used nature lighting from sunlight and the shading of a tree for one photo which really came out fascinating, it created a rebounding affect where it looked as if it was telling a message to say, "where there is darkness, there will always be light!". In another photo I used the square pattern in a gate/fence to show how there is a multiply of dimensions happening in one picture and how everything else in the background is blurred out and that the square pattern is the main focus. I also used a female model to show how humankind reacts against nature regarding the distances. I learnt quite a lot today, If you find every picture to be typical, think outside the box, not in it!

I didn't find it so difficult this time using the flash camera's for the first time properly in the outside world, really helped me catch up on my photography skills :D !

On the 5th of November, we then providing the photograph evidence from yesterday used our best top ten to edit them and planned to use them as Christmas Cards for the primary school children whom are due to come  and watch our performance on the 17th Of December. We may even use them to create a calender regarding on expenses and money limits. I only managed to finish off about 3 today, but they still came out quite good.

Music Lesson - 11th Of November

We spent the first half of the lesson working on 'Winter Wonderland' on the steel pans, we went through sections A & B, but spent most of the time finishing off our final section C. We then spent the other half of our lesson just roughly going through our winter solo's and testing out different chords and how we could improve it and fit it all into place. I believe that I was fully focused today and really to learn. Theres not much to say about today's lesson, but over all it was quite good.

Music Lesson - 3rd Of November

We spent most of this lesson trying to remember our duet idea's from last time, it was a little bit sticky today but we pulled through in the end. We included a silent role on the 'A' and 'F', but this is only for Me and Demi's pan e.g on Shenell's pan, her role is only on the 'A'. We had to decide together as a group where to fit in each duet or for some solo's. After deciding that Me and Demi's duet piece would go first, Shenell's solo second, Aaliyah's solo third and Naomi & Shyanne's duet last. We started playing it slow, then gradually getting faster. By the end of the lesson, it sounded so smooth, it was as if we never had a half term. We spent our last 10 minutes rehearsing a bit of "Winter Wonderland" Every little helps.

Thank you, today was exciting.

Music Lesson - 22nd of October

On the 22th we continued working on Sections A & B and C. These were good lessons, we worked on our remembrance for the song. We went through the whole song after from the ending when it goes back to the chorus.

It was not very basic at all, actually quite complicated and what I found hard was having to catch up with every one elses speed so soon. I'm finding it hard to keep up  with the pace. Sections A I am confident with but Sections B I can just about do and sections C and quite easy, but I still get them jumbled up.

We decided to work on our composition, we decided to put together our solo pieces. Our overall tonality was minor, because we decided to go for a mysterious vibe. Our theme was based on winter obviously, but we used to our music to connect with the kind of weather and culture that winter is involved with..

E.g

- Snow Drops
- Wind
- Rain
- Ice
- Water Droplets
- Leaves rustling
- Snow bells

All of these can help us to describe the kind of melody we was looking for in our composed music.

Diploma Friday - October the 22nd (Ending of the term)

Today is the last day before the autumn term,

Dance:

This morning I was not feeling very energetic, but I still managed to complete the dance. It was quite exciting we done an exercises warm up which included a lot of stretching, we then continued and improved upon the new contemporary dance we were thought from Monday, we worked and discussed about how we are only to be positioned when we are doing our performances. How we are attending the stage and etc, I improved from Monday, but still did not quite know the timings until the end, the counting is normally 1,2,3,4 but this one is different. I found the beginning of the dance the hardest as there was a a various of steps to learn, the rest of the dance isn't so hard. the 2nd cannon just involves changing from one side to the other, and moving one after the other very snappy. The last part we had to create eight counts with our partner as a duet and then fit it into the dance with the other 2 eight counts done by the other two duets. At first we found it hard to fit all 3 into it, but eventually after 10 minutes it pulled together and we had a good finish to the dance.

Even though I felt lazy today, I still put in as much energy as I could and I enjoyed it, the night befor ethe nxt lesson, I will make sure that I get an early nights sleep.

Drama:

Today we had to do a lot of arrangements and moving around, because Ilenia and Dami decided to leave diploma unfortunately we had to change our play - AGAIN.

After a good 15 minutes of decussing what pantomines we could perform, we decided to go for a typical classic fairytale "Snow White". An advantage of this is that this pantomine is short, but still very exciting which makes it easier for us to memorise lines and for the children to understand. Due to the fact that there are 7 gnomes, the mirror, queen, pigswill, narrator and prince. We decided to cut the dwalfs to 4 gnomes instead, and all of us played two roles, except for Snow White.

Charactors:

SNOW WHITE - Aaliyah Bell
PRINCE - Naomi Mwakomowo
NARRATOR - Shyanne Watson
QUEEN: Demi Bekir
MIRROR - Shenell Poorman
[PIGSWILL CHANGED TO HUMPHREY - Jessica Ellis (Me)
GNOMES: Jessica Ellis (Me) 1,5 and 4(only 4 for One Scene)

A Disadvantage: If everything doesn't pull things together in good enough time, the play might not go very well so we have to focus.

What is the pantomine Snow White?

The pantomine Snow White is basically a story based upon a jelous Queen who wants to be the prettiest, fairest of them all but fortunately Snow White has already taken that role. Queenie very much believes this is true and she does not like what she is hearing when she Mirror tells her different. She can't face the fact that this is true, so she orders her servant Humphrey out to murder Snow White. Humphrey does not want to do so, so instead he warns Snow White and suggests to her that she runs away forever and does not come back, Snow White listens to him and does so. She runs to out into the forest where she is stunned by a small cottage owned by the Gnomes, she comforts herself into their home, the Gnomes then spot her out and start questioning her. They promise to let her stay if she nurses them which she agrees to do and they become friends with her, after a while of geting used to her the Queen finds out that Snow White is living under the Gnomes roof and goes out to kill Snow White herself disguested as a innocent old lady selling fruit to her ;)

She pays Snow White a visit, offers her a apple full of poison, Snow White accepts the apple, eats it and falls into a deep sleep where she is later on awoken by her hansom Prince Charming. They then marry and live happily ever after!!!

As you can see from the picture shown snow white is a good friend and she is very friendly. She would never do anything to hurt anyone, an innocent snow. She is crying,  because she had no where to go and was forced to leave her castle by the Envy step mother (Queen).

From this picture we can tell how the apple looks so innocnet and juicy on the outside, but on the inside it is laced with posion and vicous venom

And in lesson 5, blogging was done, OVERALL I had a good term (Y)
See you next term.

Music - 20th & 21st Of October

On the 20th we spent time finishing off the final sections of Winter Wonderland, I found sections A and B quite easy but section C is a bit too hard for me to remember completely, but roughly I can pull it together. I think that section C is only more difficult, because it has a lot more complicated notes to play than sections A and B, Section A is very basic and section B has a catchy way of playing it which is why I find it easy to play. After the term, to make it easy for me to play I'm going to play section C alone at first, section-by-section rather than it all jumbling together

On the 21th we did not spent so much time on Section A,B and C. Instead we were working on our solo pieces which I was quite exciting about, within the hour we decided that our tonality was going to be minor(sad) rather than major (happy), because it will create a better scene for the sections of the song we have practised so far. The theme for Winter Wonderland is obviously as you can tell by the name very wintery and involves connecting the music to the weather e.g Minor gives us an image of snow, rain drops, wind and rustling leaves which are all related to winter.

I focused mainly on mostly the Harmony but still the melody, i started by fiddling around with the keyboard and using continues sequences and changing them around with different chords. I wrote them round roughly on a piece of paper, and then after we practised our oslos on the steel pans and where they could fit them in to Winter Wonderland, my solo had quite a strange chinesse-traditional melody to it. Me and Demi both played this together. We got through quite a lot these two days and I enjoyed music a lot cant wait till the lesson next week.

Dance - 18th Of October

Today, we were introduced to a new winter dance by Miss.Shrubb which involved various of spacing and time counts. We had to move very swift and quickly, this dance type is contemporary and is one the best dances we have done so far. We used cannons, solos and duets, our dance had lots of flow and constant energy we had to put all our mind and soul into it, its a very intense and serious dance. The beginning part of the dance involve us all in a cannon, one individual does a movement then two after the other. We were given sections in our duets to recreate into our own separate dances then when finished we added it on to our dance all in total.

The dance connects with a winter theme, e.g using a movement to enthasise being swifted away from wind.
We used many gestures for this dance, although it needs improvement but we can work on that.

It was a good lesson.

Creative & Media Diploma: 15th Of October

Today !!!!!!!!!!

PHOTOGRAPHY:

Today, we used cameras such as 3.2, 5 mega pixels to test out the way a camera can focus from positioning one part of the picture to the middle of the image. We also had to test out the backdrops in photos and how things are on top of eachother as if it has many dimensions.

Can you see the way it looks like that passage of flowers is a short distance?! Well, it actually isnt, the way you present your picture is the way will think about it.

Look at the way the Photographer has made the wall looks so much larger and clearer than the house itself, we can also tell that the house is far away from the camera because of the blurred affect the photographer has use, but we can tell it has been airbrushed aswell to try and enthusise the image. But, in reality the house is much larger and taller than the wall.

Because the Photographer has used a Third Rule Layout frame-by-frame technique, it allows her an easy way to edit and focus on the part of the picture she wants. Meaning, the photographer can take part of the picture and enlarge it.

DRAMA:

Seeing as we have now finished our introduction to "Drama Pantomime Research", we can now start on Unit 1: Scene Venues.

We used lessons 2,3 & 4 to research Funded and Non Funded Venues, and we had to understand what Commercial and Non Commercial ment also Voluntary Organisations which we are looking more on next lesson.

We were given a sheet on places to look, I looks through them carefully and managed to pick The BFI Southbank and O2 ARENA (The main one).

I learnt that BFI Southbank is a funded foundation that depends upon anonymous, generous donators from Co-orperations, Foundations, Trusts and indiviuals.

BFI Southbank:

Music - The Wednesday, 13th Of October

This lesson we basically just continued on from last lesson and just revised Sections A & ALL OF B,

Things started to become more clear, I learnt quite a lot of notes, I cannot remember them at the top of my head, but I know when my hands are holding the sticks, its sounds great when I play..

I still make a few mistakes, but Ive learnt quick and we all have loads of time to practise.

Diploma Friday - 8th Of October

Today, we continued learning our NEW dance with Miss.Scrubb - Contemporary Dance..

Unfortunately, I was late for lesson so did not get a chance to learn the continues dance and edit it with a partner. But, on the other hand I did review what the others were doing and I helped Miss.Scrubb out by filiming them, so I pretty much got an idea of what the DANCE is about. We also watched video clips of Comtemporary Dancers in pairs, they used a certain technique which involved was all to do with connection from one body to another and how you use the space, surrounding and props within it.

It looked quite interesting, and different to other dances types that I have seen e.g Street dance, Balled. Contemporary can ber used and many different ways and has about 20 techniques.

After, DANCE we then had MUSIC, we used to this time to update our blogging.

DRAMA:

After the first 3 lessons, we then had DRAMA, we spent this time in drama to pratise our script with "JACK AND THE BEAN STALK", and we started to continue on to scene 2. At this speed we are gradually building up our confidence and memorised more to the script. This pantomime is exciting and interesting, but what I need to improve on is to not get easily destracted and to not mix my personal life with my theatre life. When, I am on stage I am Jack, outside the drama studio I am Jessica.

Characters:

  • Daisy & Nancy: Naomi Mwakamowo
  • Landlord & Giant: Demi Bekir
  • Jack's Mother: Aalyaih Bell
  • Narrator 1 & Villager 1: Shenell Poorman
  • Narrator 2: Shyanne Watson
  • Goose & Beanman & Villager 2: Illenia
  • Jack: Jessica-Lily Ellis (Me)
It might sound confusing, but when one character is set off stage, there costumes will then change into the other e.g

"Landlord On Stage - Landlord Off Stage - Giant Then Enters"

We catched up not on a lot, but quite a bit and on the 5th lesson, we spent time in the libary trying to update our blogs again which means a free weekend for me WOO HOO !
Except for learning lines : )

Overall, today was just normal but long.

C'yaaaaaaa Bloggers, Fnx for reading xxx

Another Music Lesson - 6th Of October&7th Of October

Dance Lesson - 4th Of October xD!

Today, was not the best of days for me .

We were doing Movement work involving connection between the body of two people, we did twists and turns and lifts and drops. And it was quite fun and I was not so comfortable with me being lifted, and I do not have that trust in someone. Don't know why, I'm going to have to work on that.  : /

Me and Shyanne work really well together, its all about being confident with your body and not shy.
Miss.Scrubb mentioned something about how we should stretch at least 30 minutes every day. I may have to work on that aswell.

Overall today was GOOD

Anyways, enough blogging imagine I've just done about 6 blogs Good Night : ) X

ANOTHER DIPLOMA FRIDAY EXCEPT TODAYS 1ST OF OCTOBER - BLACK HISTORY MONTH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TODAY, 1st lesson, we had Photography with Miss.Greig, I managed to FINISH most of my presentation. But, not all of it, I ended up typing up the JOTTED DOWN NOTES about THE FIRST POLAROID CAMERAS and DISPOSABLE CAMERAS.

POLAROID CAMERAS: I have learnt that they have upgraded throughout time, and at first they started basic with the instant photo prints. After, they had come out of the slot, they would then be developed in a dark room in a small compartment and given out which was classed as quicker than taking to the shops. And you can even do this at home.

DISPOSABLE CAMERAS: I found out that you can save lots of money from these, because all it takes is a click and the roll of film already comes with it. And you can get them for as cheap as £1 for 2 literately. After the roll of film has been done up, it would then be taken to the shop to be developed. And some of the modern DISPOSABLE CAMERAS can be used again.

It was a good lesson though, overall I did not have time for finish off information about photographers and their technique, just like what we had to do in the DANCE PRESENTATION. But, I will finish this off with a SUMMARY by next lesson because, we need to start actually using the CAMERAS.

Lessons 2 - 5, we spent time finishing off our Pantomime Presentations and our JACK AND THE BEAN STALK INTROduction Presentation aswell. Although, I did not get time to start the JACK AND THE BEAN STALK Presentation nor the Pantomime Presentation .The good thing is I spent my time and read back what I done, rather than speeding through and copying and pasting information, As you can see from my BLOG, I like to put in a lot of detail and using my own opinion and COMPARING with everyone else's. xD

We also went through our SCRIPT and the roles of the play and the positions that we are placed at, it went quite well. It was a little bit funny seeing everyone into character but we soon came out of that.

Then last lesson, we had MUSIC with Miss.Hasler and Mr.Fox again, this lesson was EXCELLENT!
No struggles at all, it went quite well. I learnt all the new notes and the old ones. But, then we had to learn NEW NOTES, which went quite well. All though, I do not know them at the top of my head I know when it comes down to it when the STEEL PAN is in front of my face. It comes to heart, its a bit hard to explain but I  can.

Today was alright : )

Thanks for reading x

Another Photography Lesson - LAST DAY OF THE MONTH!!

Today, we CONTINUED on our presentations, and I added extended QUESTIONS.

And research more about POLAR CAMERAS and WHEN about DISPOSABLE CAMERAS, I jotted down websites and Updated my blogs. But, I also added photos and fixed up my PRESENTATION a tat bit more.

I got quite a bit done this lesson

Another MUSIC DAY - 29TH Of September.. OH WOW THE MONTHS NEARLY FINISHED OMGG !!! : O

Hey , today music was okay .
Another one of my teachers MR.FOX, was helping us to rehearse our Steel Pan Notes for our potential performance. Mr.Fox took over conducting it, and Miss.Hasler i suppose was simply helping the situation.

The notes became a little bit more clearer and I started to catch on a bit more to another part as well.

BUT UNFORTUNATELY I CANNOT REMEMBER THEM AT THIS PRECISE MOMENT TO INTRODUCE THEM TO THE BLOG OOPS : /

But, I will mention it in my ONE of my next music BLOGS.
I found the Notes For "Watch'ya Talkin Bout' " quite difficult, only because I had to catch on so fast, because I missed a lesson and the way the NOTES are positioned on the drum are so complicated sometimes I get mixed up with the lower notes and the higher one. What I found easy was trying to put It all together, even though sometimes it would sound a bit sloppy. We still eventually pulled it all TOGETHER. We are ONE  TEAM! Always to remember that !!

I Love the whole WINTER WONDERLAND idea, its different and not so basic and typical. Normally, everyone would do a kind of summery theme. This one is interesting and due to the fact that winter is my favourite kind of season, I have a FEELING I will like this PROJECT ALOT !

Anyways, thank you for reading IM OFF X

24th ANOTHER DIPLOMA FRIDAY WOOHOO !! XD

Continues from this MORNING when we had Miss.Scrubb.. :]

Next for 3rd lesson, we had Miss.Hasler, I was still so confused on the Steel Pan, because I did not know what NOTES I was playing However Miss.Hasler tried her BEST to help me. But, I was just a tat SLOWER than usual. So, I managed to learn how to play some NOTES and I ended up having a little PLAY AROUND. The wintery song we were learning sounded quite good.

Then for 4th and 5th lesson, we had MISS.WILLIAMS, but what a disappointment that was, because after all of the excitement over ALI BABA, we were told that we had to change plays over to JACK AND THE BEAN STALK, which wasn't so bad. But, we spent so much time last time glueing in pages to the SCRIPT because, the printer in the school was not working. But oh well, this play was GOOD anyway. Like all my other rolls in plays, I chose to be the STAR OF THE SHOW .. JACK :D

He plays an exciting Character actually, something different to the rest. But, hes slightly stupid.. the story goes like this ..

JACK AND HIS MOTHER ARE UNFORTUNATELY GOING INTO POVERTY, JACKS MOTHER SENDS JACK OUT TO SELL DAISY THE COW WHICH WAS VERY UPSETTING FOR HER BECAUSE SHE LOVED THAT COW DEARLY AS HER LOYAL FRIEND (LOL). NO-ONE WANTED THE COW, AND MANY PEOPLE ACTUALLY OFFENDED AND VIOLATED DAISY FOR BEING OLD AND RUN DOWN. THEY SAID AWFUL COMMENTS LIKE HOW THEY WOULD SEND HER AWAY TO BE USED FOR BEEF :S ..

JACK DID NOT TAKE THIS AT ALL, HE WAS VERY SAD THOUGH, BECAUSE NOW HIM AND HIS MOTHER HAD NO MONEY. BUT, ON HIS WAY HOME FROM MARKET, HE MET A MAN WHO FOUND DAISY LOVELY AND WAS WILLING TO SWAP HER FOR SOME "MAGIC" BEANS, MANY PEOPLE WOULD FIND THIS QUITE HILARIOUS BUT JACK ACTUALLY ACCEPTED THIS DEAL. HIS MOTHER WENT FURIOUS, WITH THIS SO SHE THREW THE BEANS OUT THE WINDOW AND THE NEXT DAY A BEAN STALK GREW.

JACK OUT OF DISCOVERY CLIMBED IT WITH THE HELP OF HIS BELOVED GIRLFRIEND NANCY, HE CAME ACROSS THE GIANTS HOUSE : O, AND WAS GREETED BY THE GIANTS WIFE WHICH WAS SURPRISINGLY THE GOOSE, THE GOOSE TRIED TO ESCAPE WITH JACK AND NANCY BECAUSE THE GIANT WAS NOT VERY NICE  TO HER. THEY ALL MANAGED TO ESCAPED BEFORE THEY COULD GET GOBBLED UP BY THE GIANT.  THE GOOSE LAID EGGS MADE OF GOLD. WHICH MADE MANY USE TO JACK AND HIS MOTHER. NANCY AND JACK GOT MARRIED, AND SO DID THE MOTHER AND FARMER FOR THEY FELL IN LOVE. WAHT A HAPPILY EVER AFTER !

After we were INTRODUCED to the STORY and learnt about the SCRIPT, we went into I.C.T to write about it, and continue work about the QUESTIONS OF PANTO, which I individually started on Microsoft Powerpoint, I ended up finding some VERY interesting facts on PANTOMIME STORYS and Myths.

E.g .. Did you know that A DAME in the PANTO is normally played by a MAN, and a MALE CHARACTER is normally played by a WOMEN. Which, is what makes it so funny xD

Thanksss For reading..

Dance Lesson - 24th of September

Today, I added the finishing touches to My "Contemporary Dance" Presentation.
I added effects and more information to my slide, we were suppose to present it to the class this lesson but all the computers were taken up after we signed off and we had no USB's.

After all of that, only up to now did  I know that we were not meant to write about all the people given on the Introduction to the Research Paper.  I thought the more information you wrote the more marks you get. But then I recognised its the information you put down, not tons of information you stack on and on to the presentation. And I already have 16 slides (*including pictures) what make you think that people would want to be sitting down for ages just listen about Contemporary dance for that long.

So, I ended up adding a little bit more information about Isadora Dunkens techniques and I also added two more slides about Jose Limon and his dance techniques.

I learnt that his Dance Technique includes a lot of stretching and I would predict that he uses a lot of Cardio Work Out, jogging and ofviously stretching. He puts a passion into his dance and takes it seriously, he also funded the Jose Limon Performing school and he  employed his ex-dance teacher and mentor to be the act of an Artistic Directtor.

I am so updated on my blogs mayne :o]

We went back into the classroom and due to technical difficults with transfering the files on to Miss.Scrubbs USB, we toke down notes from Miss.Scrubbs presentation instead.

Today was an ok day..

Yet AGAIN - Another Music Lesson - 23RD Of September

Music TODAY was not so much a good lesson for me :/

I was so confused and due to the missed lesson yesterday, I had to learn the notes so quickly. Normally I am a fast learner, but today I don't know why but I wasn't. Mr.Fox and Miss. Hassler were teaching us the notes, we were all put into three different sections and we using 3 different steel pan drums, lucky me I was using the common one with the most notes :D

Some of us had our own solo's, my section with Demi and Illenia included our section solo - Tenor Pan. Naomi had her own solo on the - Bass Pans, there was no other people in her sections because she played 3 drums to make one part of the piece and the same occurred for Shyanne who played the Cellos, Damilola who played the Guitar Pan and Shenell who played the Seconds.

Eventually, I got the rhythm..  The written piece was called " What ya talking bout?", it sounds quite funny actually . It was written by a Jamaican man, which at the moment, I am not familiar with the name. But, the written piece sounded like a very happy and cheerful mood type of music.

THE NOTES WERE :

CC - AA - C
* 5 Counts

A-B-CCC-A-C-B

And then we were my section was given another part..

THOSE NOTES WERE:

CC - D - E - C - D - C - G ( WITH AN DRUM ROLL)

The part two we were given with the notes

 CC - D - E - C - D - C - G (WITH AN DRUM ROLL)

Was an little section from " When the saints come marching in".

After, those two parts the ending involves..

THESE NOTES..

CC - AA - C

..

I understood in the end, but still need a bit more PRACTISE..
Looking forward to TOMOROWS Diploma Friday Lessons..

NIGHT BLOGGERS ( Dont miss me TOO MUCH ;))

Luv Yall x :P

Just an note for THE 22ND OF SEPTEMBER.

I did not attend school on the 22nd of September, so I did not attend the Music lesson with Miss.Hasler :(

But as far as I know they were learning the Music Notes with the Steel Drums.
Cant wait to learn them tomorow :D

Bye x

Dance Lesson - 20th of September

Today, in dance we had a lot more people, because at first only Me, Shenell and Demi out of the WHOLE YEAR GROUP signed up for Creative&Media Diploma, I CANT BELIEVE THAT!!!

But, there was about 7 people in the lesson now, I hope it doesn't expand TOO much. I like it small, I can regain more attention that way if I am in need of help or confused about the work.

Moving on - This lesson we used to Library to continue off our presentations, I didn't finish off a lot because I used this lesson to more likely use understanding then "jotting down" or typing up information. I finished off a few more thing on Martha Graham's movement "THE CONTRACTION" and "THE RELEASE".

ONE COOOL FACT - I learnt that "THE CONTRACTION" is the hard part where most balance, power and strain is taken place in the whole body and involves a lot of arm movement. And that "THE RELEASE" is all to do with the breathing and the connection from the dance to the EARTH (Floor), this movement occured mainly from the pelvis frame up to the back and to the neck, then the head and that the head must always be in lined with the spine. My motto for this is, "A FOCUSED DANCER IS ALWAYS A SUCCESSFUL DANCER!".

Look at an example of "THE CONTRACTION" in this picture..

E.g

This is a very WOW kind of movement! Can you see how her leg is holding up the rest of her body weight?
And how her leg and arm are in line with eachother and how her FACIAL EXPRESSION is so SERIOUS :O This is a perfect and common example of "THE CONTRACTION".

Another example of Marthas Grahams kind of dance is "THE RELEASE"

Can you see how most action is taken place for her pelvis and upper body and how straight everything is?!
It take a PROFESSIONAL DANCER to be able to do these kind of movements. Amazing ay?

Hopefully, next lesson I would have finished off the presentation, I still have TONS to do. One of the biggest sections Ive been focusing on is Martha Grahams when I still have about 4 or 5 people to do, not to worry though. Their part of Contemporary dance was not as a wide variety and complicated as her's.Theirs are very basic.

Overall,
Miss.Scrubb gave me a good comment today for my hard work.

Goooddd byeeee x Im OFF.
